In Nova Scotia, the rates are set by each municipality and may not exceed 1.5% of the value of the property transferred. Halifax imposes the maximum 1.5% rate. The list of rates for other municipalities is available on the Service Nova Scotia website at http://www.novascotia.ca/sns. Nova Scotia or it’s municipalities do not offer a rebate for first-time home buyers.
